Shoes and Pie

I'm a verbivore!

Cast of Characters

I may occasionally forget to preface someone’s name in these here blog posts with “my sister” or “my friend” or similar descriptive phrase. If you’re ever confused…

Missy – My “big” sister. (I’m actually taller. Ha!) She introduced me to shoes, classic movies, and NuWave music… when it was still nu.

D+M – My father and his wife. I love these people. I’m not trying to be coy by using their initials, it’s really how I refer to them. They call me G.

Mandy – My Very Bestest Friend In The Whole Wide World. We’ve known each other since high school, and have barely lived in the same state since. She knows me better than anyone else, and likes me anyway. Note to any HR Directors in greater MSP: Amanda is currently working on her MA in Business Communication, and is misutilized by her current employer. I’ve been begging her to leave, but she is completely loyal to the company. You’d be remiss to not headhunt her.

Erin – My partner in crime. Well, more like my manager in crime. An inspiration for outrageously complicated costumes, I once created a dress out of beaded curtains for one of her parties. To be fair, she was wearing an outfit she’d made from Venetian blinds. And hers was way cooler.

Tim – Erin’s husband, my friend, and the patience of a saint. Musician and web coder, he introduced me to Jim-and-ginger.

Scott – Co-worker, brief roommate, and good friend. Muse for my Key Lime pies. The Venn diagrams of our musical taste and hobbies barely touch, but we get along anyway.

Megan and Joe – Also known in my posts as Peek Photography, these two saw the vintage gal in me and encouraged me to show her off on everyday occasions. Also, Megan’s shoe collection dwarfs mine. So there’s that.

Dave and Jessi – Neighbors who became my friends, then moved to Chicago. We’re still friends, just no longer neighbors. Dave is a tech writer and is my personal happy-to-help IT guy. I owe him dinners. Jessi and I would occasionally run off together to the fabric store and disappear for hours. I probably owe Dave dinners for that, too.

Alison and Jay – A couple of hoodlums who crashed one of my New Year’s Eve parties a few years ago. They’re invited now.

Nick – Originally referred to here as Whipped Cream Guy, Nick and I met briefly in Las Vegas, where neither of us live, and then bumped into each other again through a mutual acquaintance via MySpace. We’re now long-distance dating. He claims to be cooler than I am, but that’s only because I can’t grow rad sideburns.

Timber – Friend, then boyfriend, and back to friends. Honestly, when you consider how compulsive his demand for perfection is, I consider it a compliment that I lasted as his girlfriend for as long as I did. He lived in Boulder, which has its own orbit, so I rarely got to see him. He’s currently job-hunting in NJ/PA. We email frequently.

There are many other Valuable Players in my life, but I don’t think they all get written about. If I ever leave you wondering, please feel free to request a brief bio of the person in question.
