Zippers are evil, and out to get us. :) Your boy shorts sounds like a clever solution to a potentially embarrassing problem! I have the opposite problem with my dresses - I adjust the hem to work on my freakishly short body and then end up making it so short that bending down in a store results in me flashing everybody. I got around that by drafting and sewing a pair of boy short underwear that are white sports lycra - at least nobody sees anything now. I adore the fabric. The cut is great too. I am also glad to see that I am not the only one to remove a seam that was improperly sewn only to resew it again incorrectly. Love it. When I think about it, even though I still consider myself a novice sewist, I've actually been deconstructing simple garments and sewing up my own versions since high school. It's only now that I'm doing it with any regularity and attention to detail, which I have to admit makes for a nicer finished garment. Shortcuts often aren't. :) Thanks!
